This book is about educating young children to see themselves as unique and that being different is great. My Hair, My Choice is a book that represents black and brown children as the hero.
Through exploring natural hair and hairstyles, children are empowered to have self-confidence through making decisions about how they want to show up in the world.
Claudia Bruce-Quartey is a Ghanian/German mother of two young children, currently living in Switzerland. She is passionate about empowering children and women to be bold and fearless. Claudia is a champion of diversity and inclusion and believes that representation is key for the future success of underrepresented communities. Writing My Hair, My Choice is based on a personal experience Claudia’s 7-year-old daughter went through, and Claudia wanted to give her child a positive narrative about herself.
