In the next instalment of Meet the Author, we meet Yvonne Tomlinson. Yvonne is a business executive, award-winning trainer, speaker, and advocate with a passion for helping others overcome personal challenges and unlock their full potential.

Yvonne’s book Memory Boxes: Illuminating a Path to Happiness is out on 27th August.

Describe your book in 30-50 words.

My memoir of forced adoption, loss and self-loathing which I locked away for years. I have now found my voice where I bravely share Memory Boxes with the world.

The contents of my memory boxes reveal resilience and strength that have carried me through the darkest of times.

Why did you want to write a book?

To start with, I just knew I needed to do this, but I can’t tell you why. As the book progressed, the realisation dawned that my story wasn’t just about me, the pregnant 15-year-old who dropped out of school.  I wanted to tell the story of how each and every one of us can forge a path to some form of contentment and happiness.

Who is your book aimed at?

Anyone who is experiencing self-doubt and seeking to change their direction in life.  This book is for you if you want to read an inspirational, thought-provoking, true story that could be about anyone of you.

What is your vision for the book?

To share my wisdom and experience with others who may at times be struggling with life’s path. The book offers a relatable experience that anyone could be going through.

What is your favourite book and why?

The Chimp Paradox by Professor Steve Peters was the first and only mind management book that I have read. It helped me to understand my internal voices of self-doubt, why I wasn’t always in control, and how I could regain that control.  There is a lot more to it, but you need to read it to fully grasp the concepts.
