By Jim Inglis

In the next instalment of Meet the Author, we meet Jim Inglis. Jim Inglis is an author, speaker, musician and hypnotist, and lives in the Scottish Borders.

Jim is the author of Portal of Destiny, an exciting fantasy novel about adventure and friendship, aimed at children aged 11+, but suitable for YA too.

Describe your book in 30-50 words.

I wrote the book because of ideas that kept coming into my head. Portal of Destiny is a novel about astral projection;  I have always liked fantasy myself, whether a book or a film. I particularly like time travel in a story – it provides escapism for people for a little while.

Why did you want to write a book?

I wanted to write Portal of Destiny because of the success I had with my biography. and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it.

Who is your book aimed at?

Portal of Destiny is aimed at 11 to 15-year-olds and young adults, but anyone would enjoy it.

What is your vision for the book?

My vision for Portal of Destiny is for people all over the world to read the story, love it, and then tell their friends. I would like it to sell one million copies worldwide and for it to be made into a film.

What is your favourite book and why?

I would have to say Fluke by James Herbert about a man who dies and is born again as a dog, but he still remembers his life as a man and sets about to find his family.
